Opening Day

Opening Day 13th April 2024

More than 60 members of The St Albans Bowling Club welcomed the Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Anthony Rowlands, to the traditional Opening of the Club for the 2024 season.  The Mayor gave an interesting speech which focused on the increase in loneliness since the Covid lockdowns and the importance of clubs such as this one in providing companionship for many who would otherwise be living in relative isolation.  The Mayor then delivered the traditional first wood of the season to within a very respectable three feet of the jack, thereby declaring the Green open for the new season.   There followed an afternoon of bowls played amongst the Members present.
